Jhootha Hi Sahi Music Review

Jhootha Hi Sahi Poster

Director, Lyrics: Abbas Tyrewala
Starring: John Abraham, Pakhi Tyrewala, Anaita Nair, Raghu Ram
Music: AR Rahman

Another Rahman album, this time with ‘Jaane tu…’ director ‘Abbas Tyrewala’. I wanted something better than the hyped (IMO) album ‘Jaane Tu..’. The first song I got was ‘Cry Cry’, from Nokia OVI store, it sounded pretty good… So waited for the album and downloaded it.

Note: All say that we need to listen to Rahman’s compositions many times, then only they will grow in you. But that applies to his average songs only. No need of repeated listening for his good compositions, which are sadly less, these days… In 2010, I liked ‘Hosanna’, ‘Behne De’, ‘Khili Re’ (to an extent), ‘Ranjha Ranjha’ (to an extent), ‘Cry Cry’, ‘Maiyyaa Yasoda’… And I believe if I liked ‘Beera Beera’ or ‘Thok De Gilli’ later, it was because of repeated telecasting in TV. A good song takes no time to grow in me, and only an average song need the support of video and the star value in the video.

Cry Cry- Rashid Ali, Shreya Ghoshal.
The song starts well, despite of the somewhat ’Totla’ voice of Rashid Ali, the song manages well to make us feel good in the first listening itself…
The tune of the starting line holds a very very vague resemblance to ‘Tujhe Aksa Beach Ghuma Doon’ from ’God Tussi Great Ho’, but no problem the song is very good…
8.5/10.

Maiyya Yashoda- Javed Ali, Chinmayi.
The second song of the album, the ‘Jamuna Mix’ is very good and enjoyable at the first listening itself…
Chinmayi’s voice is sweet, and Javed Ali also performs well. The song later comes as a ‘Thames Mix’, couldn’t identify much difference with the ‘Jamuna Mix’ except for the ending portion. Special mention to the beautiful lyrics.
9.5/10.

Hello Hello- Karthik.
This song is not that catchy, everything is fine, but it didn’t make much of an impact even after 2-3 listenings, the instruments are used well, and the use of various telephone sounds here and there is brilliant. One good portion of the song is ‘Mujhe Chhod Do, Mujhe Dhaam Lo…’.
6.5/10.

Do Nishaniyan- Sonu Nigam.
This is another uninteresting song for me, neither of the two versions make any impact on mind.. It may grow after a few more listenings, but chances are less for me…
5.5/10.

Pam Pa Ra- Shreya Ghoshal.
The song starts with a vague feeling of ‘Saiyyaan’ (U Me Aur Hum- Vishal Bhardwaj) and ‘Zoobi Doobi’ (3 Idiots- Shantanu Moitra) but the song continues well. Performed well by Shreya Ghoshal, ‘The Phenomenon’.
7/10.

I've Been Waiting- Vijay Yesudas.
Vijay Yesudas sings this song quite well, but even this song hardly created an impact in my mind, I had the same feeling before, when I listened to ‘Kites in the Sky’ (Kites- Rajesh Roshan).
5/10.

Call Me Dil- Rashid Ali.
This song is okay, may grow after few more listenings, the main portion ‘Call Me Dil’ is catchy…
7/10.

On the whole, 2 excellent tracks, Overall rating is 7/10.
