Khatta Meetha Music Review

Poster

The hindi remake of Vellaanakalude Naadu, directed by Priyadarshan, starring Akshay Kumar, Trisha.

Music by Pritam, and one song by Shani.
Now as its an Akshay Kumar movie, directed by Priyan, the songs shud hav the potential to become big hits, like those of Bhagam Bhag, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, De Dana Dan etc...
But surprisingly, there are only 4 songs in the album, and 3 remixes also are there...
The songs are good, and i think 2 songs will become hits for sure..

Nana Chi Taang- Kunal Ganjawala.
Song is ok-yish, people are saying its already a big hit, but i didnt find this song that much great. Kunal Ganjawala's singing is powerful at most places, but it lacks the grip at few portions.
The weird lyrics and all will help the song to become a chartbuster, but still, im not much impressed with the song.
5.5/10.

Sajde- KK, Sunidhi Chauhan.
A good romantic track, with a usual Pritam type tune.
In the ACD cover, it is told that Sajde is based on a traditional melody.
It is sung well by KK and Sunidhi, and the remix version is also good, in the remix version, Harshdeep Kaur replaces Sunidhi.
7.5/10.

Bullshit- Shehzad Roy.
It is from his 2008 album, 'Qismat Apnay Haat Mein'.
I havent heard the original, i heard the first version is more impressive.
There are dialogues inbetween, the song is about politians and they making fake promises, and all...
A situational track, will be very nice to see if picturised in the right way.
6.5/10.

Aila Re Aila- Daler Mehndi, Kalpana Patowary.
Now comes the real song, which has all the potential to become the sensational big hit, Aila Re Aila!!!
The song is almost similar to the title track of 'All The Best' in tune and instruments, but has more power than that song, Daler Mehndi rocks!!!
The song creates an instant impact in the minds...
Im sure the song is going to be big hit...
8.5/10.

On the whole, the album is ok, with a superb energetic track, a good romantic song, a good criticising song, and an ok-ok track.

6.5/10.
My pick is Aila Re Aila.

Mr.Singh & Mrs.Mehta Movie Review

Poster

Director: Pravesh Raman
Cast: Prashant Narayanan, Aruna Shields, Naved Aslam, Lucy Hassan

Directed by Pravesh Bhardwaj
Starring Prashant Narayanan, Aruna Shields
Movie is a low budget movie, u must hav read abt it in 'Gossips' thread abt Aruna Shield's nudity and all...
Movie is a good attempt by director.
About the title of the movie, wow!!!!!
you wil know why i say wow, if u watch the movie.....

Aruna Shields performs well and its a bold role with 10-15 scenes containing nudity.
However everything is properly BLURRED as sensor board recommended it.
Aruna Shield will get more movies i hope so...
Some of her expressions are terrific...
I had noted few scenes, the first time Prashant removes her top, that time there is an expression on her face, great!!!!
And another scene when Prashant makes her pause for his painting....
The movie is not about painting and all, it is abt relationships...

Nothing much to say about Prashant Narayanan, i had seen his excellent performance in Waisa Bhi Hota Hai Part II, and he is superb in this film also.
He should be seen in more films....

The 2 other actors did their job well, they dont have much to do...

The direction is natural and the nude scenes never look imposed into the movie.
They go in line with the rhythm of movie.
The lovemaking scenes are also handled with atmost care, that ithey never look vulgar.
A wonderful scene i noticed was Prashant and Aruna playing like small kids, it was very nice.

The main drawback of the movie is that it doesnt have any big stars, and the movie is dragging in some portions of the second hour.

There are some semi classical type songs composed by Ustaad Shujaat Hussain Khan and Shaarang Dev, they suit well in the film's mood....

On the whole, a honestly made film, with a very good performance from Aruna Shields.

7.5/10

Pankh Movie Review

Poster

Director: Sudipto Chattopadhyaya
Cast: Maradona, Bipasha Basu, Lilette Dubey, Mahesh Manjrekar, Ronit Roy etc

Movie directed by Sudipto Chattopadhyaya
Starring Maradona Rebello, Bipasha Basu etc.
A movie more like a drama, with a very good plat, a good script but a lagging direction.
The newcomer Maradona has done an extra ordinary performance...

Movie is based on a youngster, who had acted as girl in films when he was a child.
When he grows up, he wants to become a hero in movies, but he is confused about himself, whether he is 'Baby Kusum' or 'Jerry' or 'Jai'
Brilliant character sketch by the director.
Lilette Dubey does her role well, as mother of Jerry.
Bipasha Basu has almost same expression throughout the movie, as the imaginary fantacy of the lead character.
All others have done their roles well, special mention to Mahesh Manjarekar and the guy who played Saleem.
Surprised to see lot of 'f*ck' word in indian movies!!!

Main drawback of movie is that it is slow and lagging.
The climax is much disturbing.

Krantiveer The Revolution Music Review

Poster

Movie starring Samir Aftab, Aditya Singh Rajput, Harsh Rajput, Jahan Bloch (who are all these???)..
Directed by Mehul Kumar(?????).
I didnt even want to download the songs, but then i saw music is done by Sachin-Jigar, these guys had given a wonderful album 'Teree Sang' last year.
So i downloaded the songs and started listening.

Chhotey Tera Birthday Aaya- Anushka Manchanda, Mika Singh, Hard Kaur, Neuman Pinto, Ishq Bector, Hrishikesh Kamerkar, Mahadev Krishna.
Very very long list of singers in the song!!!!
Voices of Anushka, Mika and HArd Kaur dominate over the others, other people are heard as chorus, and cant differentiate each others' voices.
The track is an awesome track, i think the video may be horrible (I THINK SO) but the song is foot tapping.
I was initially disappointed as major portions of the song were being carried out by others, and Mika Singh just singing 1-2 lines, but later Mika gets more to sing.
It is a foot-tapping song, i really liked it.
8.5/10.

Lau Jali- Jigar.
The song is a situational track, with powerful voice by Jigar himself.
It starts with 'Vandeeeeee Maataram Maataram Maataram'.
The song suits with the title of the movie.
A purely situational track, not going to be a repeated listening song.
6/10.

Khuda Mere Khuda- KK, Shreya Ghoshal.
Shreya gives a wonderful start to the song, and KK comes to the song, and the song never bores the listeners.
It is a soothing romantic melody, with very very slight shades of Vishal-Shekhar songs.
It is a nice track, one of the frequently seen song in my playlist nowadays.
8/10.

Firangi Paani- Anushka Manchanda, Master Saleem.
Kind of 'Billo Rani' type song, in fact disappointing.
Master Saleem had rendered voice forthe composers' 'Leja Leja' in Teree Sang, and it was one of my most favorite songs of 2009.
But in this venture, the composers couldnt utilise Saleem properly, and they ended up with a below average track which will help only to lower the overall rating of the album.
Singers have done decent jobs, but the tune itself is not captivating.
3.5/10.

On the whole, Krantiveer comes with little expectations, (unless u know Sachin-Jigar) and is a decent album with a good romantic melody, a nice party song a serious track, and a below average song.
OVerall rating is 6.5/10.

My picks are 'Khuda Mere Khuda', 'Chhotey Tera Birthday Aaya'

Kushti Movie Review

Poster

Director: TK Rajeev Kumar
Cast: Rajpal Yadav, Om Puri, Jagadeesh, Nargis, The Great Khali etc

Remake of Mutthaaramkunnu PO
Starring Rajpal Yadav, Om Puri, Nargis, Asrani, Jagadeesh, The Great Khali (WWE Fame) etc.
Directed by T.K Rajeev Kumar
First of all, let me say, T.K. Rajeev Kumar is trying to become Priyadarshan.
One can clearly see the Priyan touch throughout his hindi movies, be the cast, or the situations or dialogues.
But Rajeev sir, Priyan has a good support in bollywood, and you dont have that...
thats the problem...
Look at Priyan's Malaamal Weekly, this film Kushti also takes place in the similar village-like place with bhola-bhala people...

Rajeev had done the remake of 'Ee Parakkumthalika' in 2009, with Govinda and Rajpal Yadav, titled 'Chal Chala Chal', and it went unnoticed at the box office.
Now, he is again trying his luck in hindi industry, this time with 'The Great Khali' in the movie's cast.
The Great Khali's scenes are nice, obviously, but it couldnt save the entire movie, which, hence went to be a dramatic mix of cliches.

Serioulsy, this kind of movies are outdated in bollywood, and Rajeev sir, if you want to be a Priyadarshan, then do some movie with Akshay Kumar, with 5-6 songs by Pritam or RDB, girls dancing in 2-piece green or yellow shining dresses, Akki doing senseless comedies etc...
Coming to Kushti, there is nothing much in the movie, except, i noticed, a love tune is played each time Rajpal Yadav sees the heroine, i liked it a lot....
Rajpal Yadav's love scenes are mostly horrible, but he showed some improvement towards the ending of the film.
Few months ago, i had seen Rajpal Yadav performing sincerely in the micro budgeted film, 'Hello, Hum Lallan Bol Rahe Hain' and i liked his performance in that movie.
But, he is almost wasted in the movie, he looks as if he doesnt know wat to do.
Nargis has nothing much to do, other than running here and there with a smile in the first half, and sitting with a sad face in the second half.
Sharat Saxena and Om Puri have done their roles with complete justice, but the roles are too cliched.
Jagadeesh is throughout the movie, he hasnt got much to do other than to support others.
Khali has done the role with atmost artificiality, i think it was needed for the role to an extent.
Coming to music department, nothing much to say, i said earlier a love tune was really good but no song of that tune was there in the movie.

On the whole, Kushti is a sincere, but poor show, and let me blame the script writer for this.

4.5/10

Lamhaa Music Review

Poster

Directed by Rahul Dholakia (Parzania fame)
Starring Sanjay Dutt, Kunal Kapoor, Bipasha Basu
Music Mithoon, Lyrics Sayeed Quadri, Amitabh Verma.

I wondered to see 6 songs in the movie, as it was a Rahul Dholakia film, and i also wondered Mika Singh has also sung a song in such a movie.
Then my expectations went high, as i saw the MD is Mithoon.
He has given us some great tracks before, like Tere Bin (Bas Ek Pal), Tose Naina, Maula Mere (Both from Anwar), Kuch Is Tarah (Atif's Doorie), Zindagi Ne (The Train).
I was also wondered to see 56 MB for just 6 songs, enen though it was 128kbps.
However i downloaded it, and started listening...

Madno- Kshitij Tarey, Chinmayi, Saim

The track is more than 8 minutes long, and this is a soothing melody, which has a tender feeling of love throughout the song. Kshitij Tarey should sing more in films, his each track is fantastic. The Orchestration is also good.
9/10.

Salaam Zindagi- Arun Daga, Mohd. Irfan

A 'Rahmanish song', bringing the feelings of 'Gurus of Peace' and all.
Performed well by the singers, and the childrens' voices in between the song are awesome. A feel-good track, the lyrics are also nice...
9.5/10.

Main Kaun Hoon- Palash Sen.
Another slightly 'Rahmanish song', bringing the feelings of 'Dil Se'.
Palash sen does a great job in this song, note the portions 'Mere Zameen Pe, Main Kaun Hoon', WOW!!!!
The dialogues inbetween, about Kashmir are also awesome.
9/10.

Saajnaa- Mika Singh, Chinmayi.
Now comes the biggest surprise!!!!!
Mika Singh with a romantic melody!!!
I couldnt believe it when i was listening to the track for the first time.
Is this the same singer, who gave us 'Mouja hi Mouja', 'Baamulaiza', 'Ganpat' etc singing this melodious song???
Mika proves that he also can sing well, if given a chance.
Song is same as the first track 'Madno' in terms of music and instruments.
I prefer this over Madno, as i like Mika Singh!!!
8.5/10. (not 9/10, because of redundancy in music.)

Zameen-O-Aasma- Kshitij Tarey.
A situational track, done well by Kshitij Tarey.
His control over his voice is awesome, and his changing between high-low pitches is remarkable, the song is a kinda dark song, it has an unusual kind of ending.
7/10.

Rehmat Zara- Mithoon, Mohd. Irfan.
Mithoon renders his voice in this song, its an energetic track.
I think it might be meant for using in several portions of the movie.
Nice song. 'Rehmat ZaraAaAaaAaaAAAaa' portion is marvellous.
8/10.

Overall, Mithoon has come up with an excellent job, and my picks are Saajna, Salaam Zindagi, Main Kaun Hoon.

9/10

Milenge Milenge Music Review

Poster

This is my second music review, and i'm adding the ratings for each song, as suggested by some orkut mate.

Directed by Satish Kaushik, about 5 years ago.
Cast: Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor
Music: Himesh Reshammiya

One can see more 'Alka Yagnik' in the credits, as it is an old album.
The movie was in some trouble, and producers are planning to release it now.
Himesh Reshammiya had composed songs for the movie, and that time he wasnt into singing.
Now, when the movie is releasing after 5 years, producers have convinced him so that he rendered his voice for 2 songs, which were recorded currently.
Lyrics by Sameer.
The main problem is, the tastes of people have changed incredibly over these years, and its difficult for 5 year old music to succeed now.
But nevertheless, 2-3 tracks really impresses us...

Kuch Toh Baaki Hai- Himesh Reshammiya.
The song didnt impress me much.
I can see, in many downloading websites, this is the most downloaded track of the album.
But i couldnt find this track great, Himesh tried to create the 'Veeraniyaan', or 'Naamumkin' effect, but he couldnt bring it out completely.
Nevertheless, the orchestration and the 'dhum tana dhum tana tina' in the background of the song is excellent.
5/10.

Milenge Milenge- Alka Yagnik, Jayesh Gandhi.

Jayesh Gandhi has given some good tracks with Himesh, in Ahista Ahista, Red etc.
He is the favorite background singer of Himesh.
He, along with Alka Yagnik makes this title track impressive.
The lyrics of Sameer is as usual, this song is about hopes of meeting again in life.
Nice track.
7.5/10.

Ishq Ki Gali- Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Jayesh Gandhi.
Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Himesh Reshammiya?
One cant forget the mesmerizing song 'Mein Jahaan Rahoon' from 'Namastey London', which was one of the best albums in Himesh's career.
Khan again teams up with Himesh this time, for a Qawwali type song, a usually heard tune, and he sings well, some portions are sung by Jayesh Gandhi.
6/10.

Tum Chain Ho- Sonu Nigam, Alka Yagnik.
Nice romantic melody, but i felt a deja vu while listening to this song, but this is really a good melody.
Sonu Nigam's voice has given a nice feeling to the song.
7.5/10.

Hare Kanch Ki Chuddiyan- Alka Yagnik.
Again Alka Yagnik!
This time with a song, with a wedding or 'sagaai' type song.
Track is 7 minutes long, and this song didnt impress me.
5/10.

Tum Chain Ho Unplugged- Vineet Singh.
Vineet Singh had given a terrific 'Ulaganaayagane' with Himesh in his Tollywood Mega Project, Dasavatharam.
Now he comes with a soothing, slightly gloomy unplugged version of 'Tum Chain Ho'.
The voice is given importance here, with minimal instruments.
A good song, sung brilliantly.
8/10.

Milenge Milenge Version 2- Himesh Reshammiya, Shreya Ghoshal.
One must be fed up with the nasal voice of Himesh, after hearing 'Kuch Toh Bakee Hai'.
But Himesh comes with a big surprice in this 2nd version of the title track, with CLEAN VOICE.
The version two impressed me more than the first version.
Shreya Ghoshal also sung well, i wish that 'Tum Chain Ho' was also sung by Shreya.
The song starts with some english dialogue, 'at times, people go to different places' and all, the song is longer than the first version.
8.5/10.

2 remixes and 1 'bright mix' are there, ok-ok remixes.

On the whole, Himesh has done a good job, but the chances of mass hits, is not high.
But the album doesnt disappoint.
My favorites are Tum Chain Ho Unplugged, Milenge Milenge 2nd version, Tum Chain Ho

Overall rating 7/10
PS: K.K is missing from the album!!!!

Rajneeti Movie Review

Poster
Director: Prakash Jha
Cast: Manoj Bajpai, Ajay Devgn, Nana Patekar, Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Arjun Rampal etc

Good movie, worth watch...
Fantastic performances from everybody....

Few negatives, Nana Patekar's getting intimate with that lady was not so convincing...
And Shruti Seth as a seducing woman, awhhhh...
And some good songs were in the album, but not used fully in the movie...

Despite these, the movie is brilliant...
Ajay Devgn didnt get that much importance considering his star value, he might hav done that role as he is Prakash Jha's favorite...
Manoj Bajpai rocked!!!!
All others did well, Ranbir is really improving in each movie....
Katrina Kaif also did well...

Frozen Movie Review (Language: Hindi& Ladakhi)

Poster

Nicely shot movie,
despite the fact that it is a 2007 movie, it is fully in black and white except last 30-40 seconds....

Danny Denzongpa, Gauri are the main cast...

Story revolves around Lasya, a girl 16-17 years old, and her father.....

Danny Denzongpa did his role well, he proved that he is not somebody to be typecasted to villain roles only....

Gauri is an invention!!!!

She does her role with excellence, sadly she hasnt done any movie after this....

She has acted in a movie before this, i havnt seen it....

Cinematography is excellent....

I didnt understand the movie fully, it's got some hidden layers which i couldnt unfold....

A good movie....

Well Done Abba! Movie Review

Poster

Movie directed by Shyam Benegal....

Starring Boman Irani, Minissha Lamba, Ila Arun, Sameer Dattani, Ravi Kishan etc....

Simple movie with a great theme....

Movie depicts the attitude of most government officers towards middle class people.....

It also focusses towards corruption and all...

Good script, i think this will get national award for best feature film in hindi this year....

Performances are nice...

Boman Irani plays 2 roles, both are nice, but ABBA role is the central character and his brother role is sidelined....

Music by Shantanu Moitra is good....

7.75/10

Brick Lane Movie Review

Poster

Movie starring Tannishta Chatterji, Satish Kaushik....

Its about a bangladeshi family living abroad...

Well made movie, but i couldnt justify the heroine's decision in the end of the movie....

Rather, i cant justify the writer of the movie....
I
ts because i wished something to happen, but something else happened....

Anyway, Tannishta Chatterji did her role extremely well....

KUDOs to her!!!!

And wat to say about Satish Kaushik?

I wish to advice him that he should work as an actor more often....

He was great in the movie....

Other actors also did well....

Overall, good movie but.....?????

Kit Kittredge; An American Girl Movie Review

Poster

Watched the last 30 minutes of this movie in HBO 2-3 months ago.....

Didnt know what was the name of the movie, so went to HBO schedules and found out the name, downloaded it..

Watched it yesterday......

Beautiful movie....

story similar to those we used to read in comic books, where few kids investigate and find our thief or culprit , like that.....

But the movie isnt that silly, it shows life of people in the pre-2nd world war time in Cincinati

Abigail Breslin rocks, as usual....

At this mere age of 13, such a performance!!!!!!

Im sure she will reach new heights, MARK MY WORD!!!

Raat Movie Review

Poster

Directorial debut of Ram Gopal Varma in bollywood....

Usual RGV stuff....

Revathi performs well...

May be i wud like the film more if i watched it 15 years ago...

but now, after watching his own bhoot, phoonk and all, i dont find it much scary....

but its a good movie, and i think such horror trend started in hindi industry from this movie...

considering the fact that its a movie released 18 years ago, i give 7/10

if it was released now, my rating wud surely be 1.5/10

The Other End Of The Line Movie Review

Poster

The chemistry between shriya and the lead american actor is awesome!!!

im really happy to see shriya performing very well, and i saw a review in IMDB, written by some american, and he praised her acting skills a lot....

i was really happy to see that....

the movie is little bit dragging at places, still it is a good venture from the director

Shriya sparkles, and the lead actor also does his job well...

The remaining cast doesnt hav lot much to do, Anupam Kher and all do their part well...

Overall, a well made film....

7/10

Na Ghar Ke Na Ghaat Ke Movie Review

Poster

Simple movie, simple script, simple story, simple direction

The director himself plays the lead role...

Movie is interesting at most parts...

It doesnt hav any big star, the only ones are Om Puri, Paresh Rawal and Ravi Kishan (dnt knw whether i can add him to big star list)

director Rahul Aggarwal has done a sincere performance, he is the best for such a character

i liked Ravi Kishan's tapori accent and mannerisms a lot...

movie has some enjoyable comedies...

also, shriya plays a 1 minute role in the movie!!

overall, a movie with a good intention...

7/10
